As early as October 2018, Li Keqiang, Prime Minister of China, and Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, jointly visited the Dutch High-tech Exhibition. The leaders of China and the Netherlands jointly witnessed the moment when the signing of the Jiashan large glass greenhouse project. The "Jiashan Sino-Dutch Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Center" project demonstration park is located in the third phase of the Zhejiang Sino-Dutch (Jiashan) Industrial Cooperation Park, with a total investment of about 200 million yuan, covering an area of about 8 hectares, including a 5-hectare large-scale single intelligent digital multi-functional planting greenhouse for R&D display uses.
However, due to the pandemic and other reasons, the project was delayed until this year to officially launch. The project is invested in and managed by HX Agriculture and constructed by Jiangsu Dingdian Greenhouse Company. The construction contents include Sino-Dutch Horticultural Cooperative Extension Service Center, Large-scale Leafy Vegetable Hydroponic Planting Farm, Innovative Planting Technology and Standard R&D Center, Modern Agricultural Technology Business Incubation Center, and Senior Agricultural Management Talent Training Center.
The project introduced a complete set of lettuce planting equipment and technology from Meteor Systems. Meteor's hydroponic system keeps relatively low cost to build, maintain, and clean by suspending plant roots in a large nutrient pool rich in water and fertilizer and is more flexible in terms of plant density. The nutrient solution pool performs a large buffer, which makes the pH value and water temperature more stable, and is more suitable for crop growth. Meteor also offers flotation boards in HDPE material, which are easy to clean and last longer. In addition to these advantages, the low surface temperature of this flotation board allows for a better microclimate for the crops.
The project will be completed and put into use in 2023. It will become the cradle of Zhejiang Province to cultivate senior management talents of advanced digital horticulture and the exchange and promotion center for Sino-Dutch intelligent horticultural science and technology cooperation.
