Research shows that the global demand for high-tech greenhouses will continue to grow strongly in the next five years. In order to further improve the ability to meet this demand, it is very important for the Dutch greenhouse technology department to strengthen its international reputation for quality.

On Thursday, November 11, six well-known turnkey greenhouse builders worked with HortiQ to approve the launch of the HortiQ Next Level quality plan in 2022. They will take the lead in working on an end-to-end value chain certified by HortiQ, where multiple links in the supply chain are covered by HortiQ quality labels. This new development enables HortiQ to make an important positive contribution to further improving the competitiveness of the Dutch cluster in the fast-growing international market.

HortiQ Next Level This goal is a direct result of the HortiQ Foundation's HortiQ Next Level vision. "We have developed HortiQ Next Level for the entire greenhouse technology field," commented Harm Maters, President of HortiQ. “Through cooperation with the turnkey greenhouse builder and insurance giant Achmea (Hagelunie, Interpolis and Avéro Achmea), we have concluded that it is particularly important for the Netherlands to further strengthen its international quality reputation.”

In addition to the ever-changing customer needs, the greenhouse project has become larger and larger, and the internal technical settings have also become more and more complex. In addition, at the international level, customers are usually no longer experienced family businesses, but large investors or governments who lack gardening knowledge and are therefore looking for turnkey solutions. "Investors have also put forward higher requirements in terms of risk management, and hope to learn more about hardware, and of course transparent quality standards," Mattes continued. "It is important for the Dutch sector to keep up with these changing needs and combine its two unique selling points (USP)-technology and cultivation-with transparent quality labels that focus on product quality. "

Achmea's commitment Achmea supports this vision and will adjust its policies related to new greenhouse construction projects accordingly. This trend will gradually evolve into an acceptance policy in the next few years, and the HortiQ label will eventually become an insurance condition for new projects. Achmea will take the first step for the Dutch market in early 2022.
