Michigan regulators are expected to soon decide whether to allow a Canadian company to build its planned Line 5 tunnel through the bedrock beneath the Straits of Mackinac and at least part of the decision will be based on climate impacts.

Friday, March 11, marked the last day for rebuttal briefs to be filed in the project’s pending permit review before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC). Now the three-member panel will read all the presented evidence and decide whether to give Enbridge’s tunnel plan the final state-level green light.
